Your Digital Church

By now you have accepted the reality that your church has left the building. Everything we do is now by assistance of technology. Live-streaming worship services, church app, Zoom Sabbath School classes, teleconference prayer meetings, and various digital platforms for our small groups. The Hill has become an online community. In order to stay relevant and in your life, we have had to adapt from being a traditional place of worship to a digital church. And since the church is God’s people, and not a building, you have adapted quite well!

At the same time, no one believes technology can permanently redefine the way we do church and worship our Lord Jesus. The Bible says it is not good for man to be alone and isolated. We were created to be social, eager for friendship and connectivity. We long for in-person, face-to-face association. And since 55% of communication is body language, seeing the whole person is ideal and preferred. Plus, we were also created to worship the Lord together in the flesh.

“I will give you thanks in a large gathering. I will praise you in a crowd of worshipers.” Psalms 35:18

For the month of May, the shelter in place remains for our protection. But the time will come this summer when we are permitted to return to church again. Perhaps with a limit of 50 at first, and conceivably with other restrictions as well. How do you feel about returning to regular church activities once the local government lifts its ban on public gatherings?
