Today's Leprosy

Trust me, no one wants to be the leper. Not in Jesus’ day and
certainly not today. But when you are diagnosed with Covid-19, as I was
earlier this week, you are like a modern-day leper.
Lepers are to isolate from their community, including their own
family members. Since leprosy is highly contagious, no one wants to be
physically close to the leper. Fortunately for me, I don’t need to be in
quarantine for the rest of my life, just 14
days or so.
But thank you for not treating me like a leper. Your phone calls,
text messages, emails, and offers to bring whatever was needed touched
my heart. Your health remedies, words of encouragement and scripture
promises have reminded me I’m part of an incredible
church family! Most importantly, your prayers have been a source of
great strength and healing!
I praise God that thus far my case is rather mild. My only symptoms
are a runny nose and occasional dry cough. I am also very thankful that
Lena and Olivia remain healthy and strong.
I continue to fervently pray for our church that this plague will
pass over and not harm us! Thanks for joining me in that prayer.
As a reminder, we are physically closing the church September 4
& 11 out of an abundance of caution and safety. As usual, our
service will be live-streamed beginning at 11:15 AM. Guest speaker
Pastor Ron Torkelsen will present the sermon! Regarding Sabbath
School information, please refer to that information further below in
this E-news edition.
Thanks again for your love and prayers by “touching” me during my
time of sickness. You have touched me as Jesus touched the leper.
Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man (leper)…. Matthew 8:3
Blessings!
