Goodbyes

One of the hardest things in life is saying goodbye to a family
member or friend. Such will be this case this Sabbath as we say farewell
to a family that has been a part of our church since 1978.
George
and Wisal Khoury moved here from Lebanon to escape tough times in their
country. What began as a temporary place of safety became their
eventual home. They raised their three children here: Amine, Jane, and
Julie, with all three attending Pleasant Hill Adventist Academy. All
three children became medical professionals, with their daughters
becoming physicians and their son a dentist.
Through
the years, Wisal served as a deaconess and also worked as the business
manager at PHAA. George served as a deacon, and as our church treasurer
for 12 years.
Indeed we are
going to miss this family as they relocate to southern California. This
Sabbath we will hold a special potluck immediately following the worship
service to share our love and warmth with George and Wisal before they
relocate. Please bring a dish to share and let’s remind the Khoury’s
just how much they will be missed!
One
day we will all live together in one place, on the same streets, in the
city of cities, in a place where there will be no nights and no more
goodbyes. In a place where Jesus will be your neighbor and mine, in a
place where there will be no more tears. Until then, let’s keep the
faith and love one another as His children.
Blessings!
