Black History Sabbath

She was known as the “Moses of her people,” She was enslaved herself, escaped, and then helped others gain their freedom as a leader in the Underground Railroad. Over a course of years, Harriet Tubman not only led hundreds of abused slaves to freedom in the north, but she brought them to Jesus. She was a woman of prayer who experienced many miracles of protection.

February is the month our nation remembers Black History. This Sabbath we are planning a special service to celebrate our diversity and our Black Heritage. Among our special features, this Sabbath will be the Pleasant Hill Adventist Academy Choir, and guest speaker, Pastor Joe Thelusca, from the East Coast.

On a personal note, I am very grateful to be part of a very diverse church congregation! We have members from the Philippines, Korea, Japan, Ukraine, China, Africa, Haiti, Mexico, Cuba, Russia, El Salvador, Canada, Brazil, Bolivia, Dominican Republic, Jordan, Palestine, Indonesia, Poland, and many other countries. Our church diversity is a taste of heaven to come!

Red and yellow, black and white, all are precious in His sight, Jesus loves the little children (and big children) of the world! And one day soon, God’s children will be gathered before the Lamb in heaven, from every nation on earth, and in one heart for Jesus!

"I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could count, from every nation and all the tribes, peoples, and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, and palm branches were in their hands." -Revelations 7:9
