Did you know the number 10 holds significance in various aspects of life, including our spiritual lives? We humans naturally gravitate toward the number 10 because it corresponds to our 10 fingers. It is the basis for our counting and numerical system. When we set goals, the “Rule of 10” is often used in productivity aspirations. The number 10 creates a psychological satisfaction for creating and completing the “To Do” list. In our personal and professional lives, the “Top 10” is often identified as a measure of success. And finally, habits can be cultivated with 10 repetitions, whether in physical exercise or a sought-after new routine or practice.
But the number 10 is also significant when it comes to our spiritual lives. Jesus told the parable of the 10 Virgins and the 10 Talents. The foundation of Jesus’ law of love is based upon the 10 Commandments. The Bible tells us the Egyptians suffered from 10 plagues before Israel’s deliverance by God. The book of Revelation says that at the end of time, the world will experience a judgment followed by 10 plagues. The Bible tells us to give a tenth of our increase as a tithe. The Bible says that Daniel and his three friends spent 10 days of faith and prayer as they ate a special diet to demonstrate God’s power.
Indeed, 10 is a spiritual number that has significance! We have begun our 10 Days of Prayer as a church. Please join us each evening from 7 to 8 PM as we come together in the Church Sanctuary to pray. We will pray two by two, we will pray in small groups, and we will pray as one body of believers. We will pray for the Lord to bless and lead us. We pray to acknowledge God’s power and incredible attributes. We will pray for one another. We will pray for the Lord to guide us through uncharted waters in the coming new year. We will pray for revival and a change of heart to become more like Jesus. We will pray to be a true light on The Hill, in a dark world.
Hope you can come and join us for 10 Days of Prayer. Because when God’s people pray, powerful things take place! Let’s continue to make our church a House of Prayer!
"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
— 2 Chronicles 7:14
