Back to School!

Back to School!

It’s hard to believe, but school is essentially back in session! Whether you have a preschooler, kindergartener, elementary student, high schooler, or college student, the season of classrooms, textbooks, and learning has arrived once again.

In our community, we are especially blessed when it comes to education. Not only do we have our Adventist-owned and operated Discoveryland Preschool, but we also have the gift of a full K–12 Academy. While some of our sister schools in Northern California have had to close their doors, Pleasant Hill Adventist Academy (PHAA) remains one of the very few Adventist-operated K–12 schools still thriving. What a blessing!

This Sabbath marks the beginning of a new school year and a fresh season of ministry at PHAA. We welcome several new staff members: two music teachers, a new 7th/8th grade teacher, a new K–2 teacher, and a new principal. Classrooms are ready, lesson plans prepared, students registered, and—praise God—our high school enrollment has even grown compared to last year! The calendar is set, and all that remains is for the Lord to bless this new school year!

To that end, during our worship service this Sabbath, we will hold a special dedication for PHAA. Faculty members will be introduced and then we will pray over them, committing their ministry to the Lord. PHAA is our church’s most heavily funded ministry and our longest-running evangelistic campaign—lasting throughout the school year! More than anything else, PHAA exists to introduce students to Jesus Christ.

Finally, I’d like to extend an invitation. If you feel called to help a student in need to afford tuition at PHAA, please consider contributing to the Sally Nam Memorial Scholarship Fund. Every dollar given will go directly to providing tuition assistance to qualified students in need.

Your generosity makes Christian education possible for families who might not otherwise have access.

May the Lord bless you and your family as we transition from summer back to school.
