Celebrating Motherhood!

What’s the toughest job on earth, with no breaks and 24/7 responsibility? Motherhood of course. Everyone has a mother and when you think about yours, what comes to mind?
When I was a child, I was blessed with a mom who was constantly showing love in so many tangible ways. She worked hard to make our home a place of refuge, demonstrated kindness and compassion to our neighbors and strangers, and modeled what it meant to be a follower of Christ. My mother showed me what it looked like to forgive, to pray, to be thoughtful, to keep commitments, to work hard, to serve, and to be patient in all circumstances. I am blessed to still have my mother, and I’m still learning from her today!
This weekend we celebrate Mothers! On Sabbath, we have a special worship serviced planned. Mother’s will be honored and receive a small token of appreciation for their sacred role. A special sermon will also be given by Pastor Leah about what the Bible says about motherhood. Finally, a special potluck is also planned to honor our mothers. We are asking the men to bring an entrée or salad to share, to help take a load off the mothers this time around.
Being a mother is an incredible calling by God for the sacred role of raising up children to know the Lord. When children see their Godly mother, they see a part of God that is best revealed by her. May our mother’s know we appreciate and support them.
If we are the child, may we honor them; if we are the husband, may we love them; and if we are part of the church, may we support our mothers.
"Pay close attention, my child … and never forget your mother's instructions."
Proverbs 1:8
