One Sabbath at a time

Life at The Hill has changed for us a lot over the course of the last seven years. When we first started coming to this church in late 2018, we were newlyweds looking for a church home. Fast forward to the present day, we have found our church family, and now we take up almost half a pew on Sabbaths with all of the snacks and activities we prepare for our daughters, Melanie and Amy.
We’re often told by others that they’re happy to see us at church and how impressed they are with the fact that we’re able to bring our young family. But the reality is that it’s a difficult task – there have been Sabbaths when we’ve had to go home early; there have been sermons that didn’t fully reach us because our attention was on our girls in some form or another.
However, any parent who has gone through these struggles knows that the difficulties are worth it in order to bring our children to Christ and guide them on the pathway to seek salvation.
For Melanie, our 3-year-old, Sabbath School is a highlight; it’s where she's learning to fall in love with Jesus, and we see the fruits during the week when she sings the songs and repeats her Sabbath School lesson.
King Solomon advises us to “direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it” (Proverbs 22:6, NLT). Every parent wants to see their child love the Lord the way we do, so it’s our sacred duty as parents to bring them to Sabbath School and to the service, which in turn helps lead them to the feet of our beloved Savior.
If there are any young parents struggling with this right now, know that God sees you – He loves and appreciates the efforts you’re making to bring your children to church. The rush to get out of the house in the morning, the struggles to pack everything, the stress of trying not to be late – it will all end one day. The reward will be peace and togetherness in our eternal home with Christ – snacks and activities no longer necessary!
God bless,
