Starting 2026 with Purpose!

It’s that time of year again—to reset, refocus, and reflect on the past year while setting new goals for the year ahead. Have you taken time to do that yet? If not, there is still time to prayerfully establish meaningful goals for 2026!

Some of my personal goals include going to bed and waking up earlier, spending more time with my wife, reading more books, spending less time on technology, being more mindful of my health, and deepening friendships, just to name a few.

But this is also the perfect time to consider new spiritual goals. We are either growing closer to Jesus or slowly drifting away—there is really no such thing as “coasting” in our spiritual lives. The enemy never rests, so we must be intentional and vigilant in nurturing our relationship with Jesus, allowing His presence to guard, guide, and grow us as His faithful followers.

Here are some spiritual goals you might consider this year:

Read through the Bible
Memorize a new verse each week
Develop a prayer list
Keep a blessing list to record God’s answers
Serve in a new ministry
Be faithful in tithes and offerings
Prayerfully look for opportunities to share Jesus
Join or start a small Bible study group

Ask the Lord how He may be leading you to grow in 2026, and then take intentional steps to walk more closely with Him. When you make the Lord the center of your life, you will never go wrong!

“The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?”
Psalm 27:1

Toward that end, this Sabbath we will be celebrating what Jesus accomplished for us on the Cross. We will come to the table to remember His sacrifice and the love He demonstrated by dying for each of us. What better way to begin the year than by celebrating the greatest gift of all? Come prepared to experience meaningful communion with your Lord and Savior.

“God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.”
2 Corinthians 5:21
