The Wedding!

I trust you enjoyed a restful holiday weekend. We were invited to my nephew’s wedding in the Santa Rosa area. It was wonderful to see family and friends at this milestone event in the life of the new couple. I was reminded of my own wedding exactly 30 years ago. Indeed, one of the greatest celebrations on earth can be at a wedding!
It was at such an occasion that Jesus chose to launch His public ministry. Jesus could have begun His ministry in a Synagogue, at the site of a healing, or at the Temple debating the Pharisees. Instead, Jesus chose a marriage celebration! This tells me that Jesus wanted His ministry to bring joy and anticipation, just as the honored couple might feel on their wedding day!
That same joy is available to you and me every day. Jesus offers us hope that never fades and joy that cannot be taken away. All He asks is that we draw near to Him—by celebrating His promises in Scripture and by sharing our hearts with Him in prayer.
As we enter this season of school and autumn, let us renew our connection with the Lord, the source of every good and perfect gift in our lives.
