VBS Sabbath!

“Where are you from?” I asked a young mother whose seven-year-old daughter attended VBS this week. “We live a couple of blocks from the church,” she replied. “Oh, wow, that’s wonderful,” I said. “And how did you hear about VBS at our church?” “Social media,” she answered. “Terrific! And where do you currently attend church?” “Nowhere.”
That brief conversation captures the experience of several families I met throughout the week at Vacation Bible School. Many of the children who attended do not regularly attend a church. One mother, who does not have a church home, even invited a friend, and she also enrolled her daughter at VBS. In total, 127 children registered for a week filled with music, fun, friendship, and learning about God’s Word.
This Sabbath, we will celebrate one of our most impactful outreach events of the year for children and families. I invite you to join us in worship as we celebrate the students, volunteers, and leaders who helped make this week such a tremendous success. More importantly, we will celebrate the many children who made new friends and learned more about their very best Friend Jesus.
We are also blessed to have Nicky Alvarado bringing the Bread of Life through the morning message. I hope you will join us as we rejoice in what God has done and continue praying that the seeds planted this week will grow into lasting relationships with Jesus and meaningful connections with our church family.
