This Sabbath, we are privileged to hear the compelling story of my personal friend Joe Martin. His story begins on the streets of San Francisco where he was raised in the Tenderloin District. Surrounded by crime, drugs, and danger, Joe grew up to be a fighter, with little thought of God.
As a young man, Joe enlisted as a Marine and served on the front lines in Vietnam. He witnessed firsthand the horrors of war.
Upon discharge from the military, Joe found himself angry and aimless. His favorite pastimes became playing pool and drinking beer. Every night, Joe could be found in various bars which almost always led to altercations.
One night, a stranger challenged Joe to a fight. Joe responded with a simple warning. He didn’t fight for fun. If they fought, he would fight to the death, and kill the man. Joe’s anger was intensifying by the day and he had nothing to live for.
Until one day, someone introduced Joe to Jesus. As a result, Joe’s life began to change and eventually, he gave his life to Christ. Joe went from being an angry Marine to a joyful Minister.
Join us this Sabbath to hear Pastor Joe Martin share his conversion story! His story will fill you with awe and inspire you to see the greatness of our amazing God!
Also, this Sabbath is Children’s Church. All children are invited to a special worship service immediately following the children’s story in the main sanctuary. The children will be invited to the Youth Chapel for a time of worship, led by Dr. Leroy Peterson. Dr. Peterson will share God’s handiwork through various live animals and some animal taxidermy specimens.
Please invite a friend to church this Sabbath. We will also have potluckthis Sabbath so please bring a dish to share! Hope to see you when the church gathers!
