Winter Rains!

Hasn’t it been wonderful to receive all the rain lately? The benefits are enormous and lasting. The once golden hills are now lush and green, the air is fresh and clean, and the rains have filled the streams, rivers, and reservoirs once again!?

Just as the rain revives the land, so we are revived by the Lord when we seek Him.

Hosea 6:3 – “Let us acknowledge the Lord; let us press on to acknowledge Him. As surely as the sun rises, He will appear; He will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth.”

The Bible makes mention of rain and compares it to spiritual truth.

Leviticus 26:4 – “I will send you rain in its season, and the ground will yield its crops and the trees their fruit.”

Just like the rain, the Lord meets our needs as we grow in our character to reflect Him. It is the Lord who gives fruit in our life! How is the Lord showing His fruit in your life?

1 Kings 8:35, 36 – “When the heavens are shut up and there is no rain because your people have sinned against you, and when they pray toward this place and give praise to your name and turn from their sin because you have afflicted them … Teach them the right way to live, and send rain on the land you gave your people for an inheritance.”

Just as the earth goes into drought when it does not rain, so too, when God’s people are rebellious in their persistent sins, God can withhold His blessings but will return them when His people repent and obey. Is the Lord blessing you, or are you in a spiritual drought? What do we need to repent of in our lives?

John 7:37-38 – Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”

The ultimate rain that we need is Jesus, the living water. He is the one who truly satisfies our dry and thirsty souls. If you’re going through a “dry season” in life, remember that God’s blessings, like rain, will come in His perfect time. Keep trusting, praying, and staying close to Jesus – your spiritual “rain” will come!
